The PinkPolarBear Foundation and University of Greenland Partner in Ph.D. Programs Sponsorship

Nuuk, Greenland - The PinkPolarBear Foundation (PPBF) is proud to announce its partnership with the University of Greenland (Ilisimatusarfik) and the sponsorship of two Ph.D. students, Julie Flyger Holflod and Lene Møller. The financing will cover a portion of the projects’ budgets and go towards completing their invaluable research.
The sponsorship was announced this week during Greenland Science Week in Nuuk, an event dedicated to bridging the dialogue between research, business, administration, and citizens. From climate conversations, Indigenous Peoples’ rights, inclusivity in science and sustainability, the PinkPolarBear Foundation is delighted to be a small part in a week full of ideas.
The foundation’s goal is to stimulate education and research activities in Greenland in all disciplines. The two projects selected for the sponsorship reflect the continuous efforts to work together with the Greenlandic community.
Lene Møller, currently part of the Public Law Department at Ilisimatusarfik, is also enrolled as a Ph.D. student, examining the legal development of Inuit collective rights to the lands, territories, and resources they have traditionally inhabited and used. The project aims to provide knowledge and insight into older customs that are invaluable in creating an informed new legal regulation, with a special focus on hunting opportunities for the community. The Foundation’s financing will cover transportation and accommodations for in the field research.
Julie Flyger Holflod’s Ph.D. project is an evaluation of the implementation and effects of Allorfik, the national treatment service for addiction of alcohol, cannabis, and gambling. Julie’s aim is to contribute with data about addiction treatment for Inuk, and help Allorfik to pave the way to breaking the negative social heritage of addiction, maintain treatment outcomes, and help former addicts reintegrate in society - both practically and financially. The sponsorship will finance a part of the data collection for the project from Statistics Greenland.

The PinkPolarBear Foundation is a Greenland Ruby initiative. A percentage of sales from each Greenland Ruby gem goes to the foundation, making contributions and sponsorships such as this possible. About University of Greenland
The University of Greenland was established in 1987 and provides higher education for Greenland. It’s situated in the capital city, Nuuk, and is the only university in the country, offering courses mostly in Danish, a few in Greenlandic and classes by exchange lecturers often in English.

Nuuk, Grønland - The PinkPolarBear Foundation (PPBF) er stolte over at kunne annoncere deres partnerskab med Grønlands Universitet (Ilisimatusarfik) og sponsoratet af 2 Ph.d.-studerende, Julie Flyger Holflod og Lene Møller. Finansieringen vil dække dele af projekternes omkostninger og bidrage til fuldførelsen af deres værdifulde forskning.
Sponsoraterne blev annonceret i denne uge under Greenland Science Week i Nuuk; en begivenhed dedikeret til skabe dialog mellem forskning, forretning, den offentlige administration og borgerne. Om det er samtaler om klima, oprindelige folks rettigheder, inkludering i forskning og bæredygtighed, så glæder det the PinkPolarBear Foundation at være en lille del af ugen fyldt med ideer.
Det er fondens mål at stimulere uddannelse og forskningsaktiviteter i Grønland indenfor alle discipliner. De to projekter som der blev valgt til et sponsorat er et udtryk for det fortsatte samarbejde med det grønlandske samfund.
Lene Møller, som er en del af Afdelingen for Jura på Ilisimatusarfik, er også Ph.d. studerende, som undersøger den juridiske udvikling af Inuits kollektive rettigheder til land, territorier og ressourcer som de traditionelt har beboet og udnyttet. Projektets mål er give viden og indsigt i ældre skikke som en uvurderlig del af grundlaget for udvikling af ny lovgivning med specielt fokus på jagt muligheder for lokalsamfundet. Finansieringen fra Fonden vil dække rejse- og opholdsomkostninger i forbindelse med forskning i felten.
Julie Flyger Holflod’s Ph.d.-projekt er en vurdering af implementeringen og effekten af Allorfik, det nationale tilbud om gratis behandling af afhængighed af rusmidler og spil. Julies mål er at bidrage med data omkring afhængighedsbehandling hos Inuit og Allorfik, og hjælpe til at bryde den negative sociale arv ved afhængighed, fastholde behandlingens resultater og hjælpe tidligere misbrugere integrering i samfundet praktisk og finansielt. Sponsoratet vil finansiere dele af dataindsamlingen til projektet fra Grønlands Statistik.
