Nuuk, Greenland - The PinkPolarBear Foundation (PPBF) is now the proud sponsor of Amitsialak Workshop in Qeqertarsuatsiaat. The sponsorship agreement was celebrated this weekend at an event held in Nuuk at the main workshop.
The small ceremony marked the official start of a three-year partnership starting with 2021 and 2 additional contributions planned for 2022 and 2023. The event was attended by the PinkPolarBear Foundation’s Greenlandic Board Members, representatives from Greenland Ruby, officials from the Municipality and workshop craftsman.
The Amitsialak Workshop’s goal is to preserve Greenlandic craftsmanship traditions and pass the knowledge to future generations. Amitsialak provides monthly workshops for the local primary school students to learn and pass on the traditional cultural values of Greenland.
Søren Würtz, Manager of the Cultural Department, Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq says: “We are very proud to be the first recipients of a PinkPolarBear Foundation sponsorship. The foundation’s objective of supporting the people in Greenland aligns well with our efforts to preserve these unique skills. Their support will ensure the continuation and expansion of our work here in the community, and make sure our traditional craft will continue and thrive for generations to come.”
The PinkPolarBear Foundation is a Greenland Ruby initiative. A percentage of sales from each gem goes to the foundation, making support and sponsorships such as this, possible. They encourage customers to make similar contributions. The partnership with the Amitsialak Workshop underscores the foundation’s vision, expanding further into support for other local businesses. Erik A. Jens, PPBF Chair says “Partnership with the Greenlandic community is of utmost importance for the foundation. That’s why we chose the Amitsialak sewing workshop for our first sponsor project. We are happy with the support of Greenland Ruby and its partners for making this happen: people say ‘their traceable gemstones make communities shine’”.
About the PinkPolarBear Foundation
The PPBF is Greenland Ruby’s CSR arm and is governed independently with their partners. The foundation is concerned with International Polar Research and the effects of climate change on the environment. The foundation is also committed to stimulating education as well as understanding the needs and supporting the inhabitants of Greenland, both animal and human, who are affected by the accompanying cultural changes.
About Amitsialak Workshop
Amitsialak is part of the cultural institution which aims to preserve Greenlandic culture with a focus on working with 'Avittat', embroidery for national clothing. Amitsialak's special feature is the production of the remarkable 'Qeqertarsuatsiaat bag'. The name represents the settlement from where the bag originates.

Nuuk, Grønland – Denne weekend fejrede The PinkPolarBear Foundation (PPBF) og værkstedet Amitsialak, fondens første sponsorerede projekt med et event in Kitaat, i the sydvestlige Grønland, hvor værkstedet ligger.
Den lille ceremoni markerede den officielle start på et treårigt partnerskab, med 2021 som det første år, og yderligere 2 bidrag planlagt i 2022 og 2023. Tilstede ved begivenheden var grønlandske bestyrelsesmedlemmer fra PinkPolarBear Foundation, repræsentanter fra Greenland Ruby, embedsmænd fra Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq og medarbejdere fra værkstedet.
Amitsialaks mål, at bevare de grønlandske håndværkstraditioner og videregive dem til fremtidige generationer.
Amitsialak afholder blandt andet månedligt undervisning til bygdens folkeskoleelever for at lære dem og videregive Grønlands traditionelle kulturelle værdier.
Søren Würtz, afdelingsleder for kultur og Event hos Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq udtaler: ”Vi er meget stolte af at blive de første modtagere af et sponsorat fra PinkPolarBear Foundation. Fondens formål med at støtte det grønlandske folk, stemmer godt overens med vores indsats for at bevare det unikke håndværk. Deres støtte vil sikre fortsættelsen og udvidelsen af vores arbejde her i lokalsamfundet, og sørge for at vores traditionelle håndværk vil fortsætte og trives i de kommende generationer.”
The PinkPolarBear Foundation er startet på Greenland Ruby’s initiativ. En procentdel af salget fra hver enkelt af deres ædelsten går til fonden, og gør derved støtte og sponsorater som dette mulige. De opfordrer også deres kunder til at give yderligere støtte. Partnerskabet med værkstedet Amitsialak underbygger fondens vision om at udvide støtten til lokale forretningstiltag. Erik A. Jens, fondens bestyrelsesformand udtaler, ”partnerskaber med det grønlandske samfund er det vigtigste for fonden. Derfor har vi valgt at støtte Amitsialak som vores første sponsorerede projekt. Vi sætter pris på støtten fra Greenland Ruby og vores partnere, så dette kan lade sig gøre: Og håber at folk vil synes, at deres sporbare ædelsten får deres samfund til at ”glitre””.

The PPBF er en del af Greenland Ruby’s CSR-indsats og bliver styret uafhængigt med partnerne. Fonden er koncentreret om international polarforskning og klimaforandringernes påvirkning på miljøet.
